Root Canal Therapy
Within each tooth is a thin, long strand of dental pulp which allows nutrients and nerves to reach the root of the tooth. In the event of an infection of this pulp, or even damages to it, the nerves will begin to die, and without pursuing endodontic treatment, the tooth will die as well.
The root canal procedure at Sawgrass Gentle Dentistry aims to avoid this by gaining access to the infected or damaged pulp. After this step, the internal walls of the root system will be cleaned, reshaped and disinfected. The tooth in question will also be fortified with a post and core, which provides stability to the weak tooth. After the cleaning and reshaping, the tooth will then be covered in a crown to prevent any future damage or infections.
